As a professional business? He made me feel so bad about it, like I shouldn't be spending my money on things like that while he is buying me dinner; all I do is pay bills. I deserve something nice, right?

Of course you deserve that, and more! He has no right to be angry, especially since it’s your body and you can do whatever you want with it if it makes you happy! He seems to be acting very immature about the situation, and doesn’t seem to understand that the piercer was simply doing his job that you asked for.
Don’t feel bad! Instead try and tell him that it was what you wanted, and that if he’s a loving companion he can respect that. He has no choice other than that, tbh. This does not involve him. You own your body, you have to help him see that just because you two are a couple, doesn’t mean he has ownership over you or the things you choose to do.
